Who We Are:
UPDATE: We are relocating to the greater Tampa/Clearwater/St. Petersburg area this summer!
We are a group of dedicated divers who are passionate about all aspects of recreational and technical diving. All of us are active and former military who share a common goal of making better divers while still having fun! Each of us has watched the majority of dive shops dilute training standards to the point where all too frequently barely competent divers emerge after as little as two days of training! We believe customers deserve better and by proving excellent training the end result is a diver who is more comfortable, proficient, confident, and ultimately safer in the water.
What We Do:
Our instructors provide the best quality recreational and technical dive training available for those customers who are looking for something beyond the minimum. Each of us is constantly working to enhance our own personal training and the training our students receive. Black Jack Tech Diving is not the largest, the fastest, or the cheapest training available but it is some of the best. In a nutshell, we are in the business of making better divers! Our passion for diving extends into every aspect of the shop. Our service technicians are factory trained and our cylinder inspections are done to PSI standards. We only carry high quality equipment lines such as Oceanic, Atomic Aquatics, Dive Rite, Zeagle, Hollis, Ikelite, Henderson, and many others. We are the only shop in the area that has a full range of recreational and technical gas mixes to include oxygen compatible air, Nitrox, Trimix, and pure oxygen. If you need a fill, we can take care of you.
What We Are Not:
Despite the fact that our staff has a military background, Black Jack Tech Diving is not military scuba or a scuba boot camp. We are a local, family oriented dive shop that works hard to create a safe diving environment while making sure we are all having fun. If you are interested in military diving we will gladly point you in the right direction and wish you luck. We do have basic, reasonable standards that the overwhelming majority of people can meet. We have had some students as young as 10 years old and others well into their golden years meet our standards. Our instructors work with the few students who are struggling to meet a particular standard until they succeed. We are not interested in dragging students through a brief course just to make some quick cash. It's our goal to have each student become a lifelong diver who is competent and safe; even if it takes a little longer to do so. Our customers expect nothing less.
Please stop by the shop, give us a call, email, or find us on Facebook if you have any questions and our staff will be happy to answer them.
